Silver Lake Cottage

Lucile Avenue
Los Angeles, California

Loaded with original character and charm, yet suffering from years of neglect, this project took on the task of revitalizing the quintessential storybook revival cottage.

The existing home had years of deferred maintenance, and a floor plan that was not conducive to modern living.  Existing spaces were reconfigured, and a small addition was added to the rear.  The spatial relationships and flow were greatly improved, and much needed bathrooms and support spaces were added.  Windows were expanded and added to capture sweeping views, and additional light.

New finishes, such as hand glazed tiles, roman clay wall finishes, and custom-built cabinetry, were chosen to compliment the original hand-hewn wood ceilings throughout.  A color palette of warm natural tones and materials lend the home a soft, organic, lived-in vibe that honors the traditional roots of this cottage.
